Grant Writing Workshop
The Governor’s Office of Appalachia would like to share with you our brochure on a workshop that we will be hosting at the end of May. The attached is the brochure on the Grant Writing Workshop. We hope that you will share it with your office, peers, and other community organizations and at meetings you attend. We have started to mail this brochure out into the counties and by the middle of February should reach each county in the Appalachia region. This is open to all counties in Ohio’s Appalachian Region.

2008 SUMMER MATH-SCIENCE-TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE
The Governor’s Office of Appalachia is excited to be announcing that The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is again offering an all expense paid educational opportunity for math, science and technology students and teachers. Our office is currently accepting applications for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Institute in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Once applications are received and reviewed a select number of students and teachers will be chosen to participate as representatives of Ohio’s Appalachian region during this residential institute from July 12 – 25, 2008.

COLUMBUS, OH – Governor Bob Taft today praised state employees for their generosity and for setting a new record in pledges for the Ohio Statewide Combined Charitable Campaign (CCC). Through one-time donations and payroll deductions, employees pledged more than $5.2 million toward the 2005 campaign, which benefits charities.

Ohio Manufacturer's Investment Tax Credit
As enacted, this tax credit offers a non-refundable corporate franchise or state income tax credit for a manufacturer that purchases new manufacturing machinery and equipment. The machinery and equipment must both be located in an Ohio county and be used for manufacturing.
