Initiatives: 2005 Make a Difference Day Ohio

2005 Make a Difference Day Ohio

Make a Difference Day is the largest single day of volunteerism in America. Sponsored by USA Weekend Magazine and the Point of Light Foundation, this year's event will be October 22. First Lady Hope Taft and Ohio State University Football Coach Jim Tressel serve as Ohio's co-chairs.

Typically, Appalachian Ohio is a leader within the state for the number of Make a Difference Day completed. To keep this tradition alive, Ohio's Appalachian Country will distribute $2,000 to each of the 29 counties in the region for projects that meet the criteria under "The Arts and Tourism: Enhancing Appalachia's Assets for Growth. Qualifying projects are those that seek to enhance a visitor's experience in the region and to raise the awareness of the value of the arts in our communities.
