Healthy Living Task Force
Governor
Taft appointed the Appalachian
Ohio Healthy Living Task
Force in January 2005
as a result of a fall
2004 health and education
summit hosted by the
Voinovich Center for
Leadership and Public
Affairs at Ohio University
and the Governor’s
Office of Appalachia.
The task
force is co-chaired by
Ohio Department of Health
Assistant Director Jim Pearsol
and Susan Isaac, a health
systems planning consultant
in the region. The Governor's
Office of Appalachia and
the Osteopathic
Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville are
partners supporting the task
force. The Voinovich
Center for Leadership and
Public Affairs coordinates
the task force activities
The
task force is holding a series
of meetings around the Appalachian
Region between June 2005
and June 2006 to learn about
the underlying causes of
obesity and model community-based
programs to address the issue.
