JOHNSON ANNOUNCES THAT BROWN
AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES TO RECEIVE GRANTS TO ASSIST WITH FAIR
HOUSING EFFORTS
Columbus, OH -- State Development Director
Bruce Johnson today announced that Brown and Washington counties
will receive grants totaling $30,000 to assist with fair
housing efforts.
"This funding will assist Brown and Washington counties
in educating and updating the public about fair housing laws
and regulations," said Johnson. "Public awareness
on equal access to decent, affordable housing promotes healthy
communities."
The funds will be awarded through the Ohio Small Cities Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) New Horizons Fair Housing Assistance
Program, administered by the Ohio Department of Development's
Office of Housing and Community Partnerships.
Brown County will receive a $15,000 grant to continue to
promote equal housing opportunity by distributing fair housing
educational materials and promotional items in schools and
during festivals and publishing informational advertisements.
Washington County will receive a $15,000 grant to expand
its fair housing education and outreach program by distributing
educational materials and promotional items during various
events throughout the county.
The CDBG New Horizons Fair Housing Assistance Program provides
local governments with funds to affirmatively advance fair
housing opportunities. Affirmative fair housing strategies
are designed to address locally assessed needs and commitments
while advancing the state's fair housing goals.
