Workforce : Mass Recruitments

When new or expanding employers need large volumes of workers, the state and local Department of Jobs and Family Services (DJFS) can provide free employee recruitment services. Additionally, the DJFS can prescreen applicants according to employer criteria. Here are some recent examples of DJFS mass recruitments:
  • In spring of 2002, the Hocking County DJFS assisted Gabriel Logan LLC find workers to operate its new slatwall and retail display manufacturing plant. Gabriel Logan occupies about 100,000 square feet in the massive former Goodyear plant. Gabriel Logan initially needed about 100 employees. DJFS received approximately 1,700 job applications for these positions.

  • Also in the spring of 2002, state and local DJFS offices used mass mailings and Internet postings to generate 1,350 qualified applicants for 425 positions at the new Walmart in Athens.
