Appalachian Ohio is known for the number and diversity of firms and an entrepreneurial environment as lush as its surroundings. This is due in no small part to the strength of business coalitions, organizations and networking opportunities that flourish here. Below are examples or organizations and resources typical of the region.
ACEnet 
The Appalachian Center for Economic Networks, a community economic development organization in southeastern Ohio, is dedicated to building the capacity of local communities to network, innovate and work together to create a strong, sustainable regional economy that has opportunities for all. ACEnet currently is focusing on the food and technology sectors of the economy.
ITAAO
The Information Technology Alliance of Appalachian Ohio is dedicated to growing and improving the competitiveness of southern Ohio’s information technology (IT) industry. ITAAO membership provides networking opportunities, sponsorship/marketing opportunities, regional recognition and opportunities for contributing input and ideas for information technology development.
 NBIA
The National Business Incubation Association, a membership organization based in Athens with global reach and influence, advances the business creation process to increase entrepreneurial success and individual opportunity, strengthening communities worldwide. It comprises professionals involved in business incubation, entrepreneurship, economic development, capital formation, research and government.
Ohio Chamber of Commerce 
The chambers in this region not only work hard to improve business conditions in their own communities, but also collaborate on more far reaching initiatives.

Ohio has a widely diversified economy with thousands of companies. This site gets you to a statewide business directory, county maps with census profiles, media feeds, links to business resources and registration, and even the ability to listen to the Ohio legislature during sessions.
Rural Action
Rural Action promotes economic, social, and environmental justice in Appalachian Ohio. Its programs are designed to engage diverse people and organizations to help build healthy, sustainable communities and businesses. Business-related initiatives include the Business Development program, Job Skills Training program Sustainable Forestry program and The National Center for the Preservation of Medicinal Herbs.
